I want to start by thanking my sister Célia, who was my main point of contact throughout this journey. She took care of my cat Misty and my turtle while I was away, handled the logistics of getting my diabetes medication delivered to me, and helped with many other things behind the scenes.

A big thank you to my mom, my number one supporter, who followed every city I passed through—sometimes even asking about places that didn’t appear on her map! Thanks also to my dad, who bought guidebooks just so he could follow along with me too.

Special thanks to Karen, who supported me through a few tough moments over the phone and is still helping manage some of my remaining administrative tasks back in Canada.

I’m also deeply grateful to all the individuals who welcomed me into their homes, shared meals with me, and offered me a place to rest—especially on the Via Turonensis, where places to stay are few and far between. Your kindness meant a lot.

Thank you to everyone who followed my journey—it really motivated me.

I may continue posting from time to time. Once I’m back home, I plan to reorganize the website and archive the Camino blog under a dedicated section. The idea is to keep sharing what I’ll be doing next. I want to fully embrace the path God has for me, live with more respect for the world around me, and pursue a life that carries real meaning.

Je souhaite commencer par remercier ma sœur Célia, qui a été mon principal point de contact tout au long de ce voyage. Elle s’est occupée de mon chat Misty et de ma tortue pendant mon absence, a géré l’envoi de mes médicaments pour le diabète, et s’est occupée de bien d’autres choses en coulisses.

Je continuerai peut-être à publier de temps en temps. Une fois rentré chez moi, je vais réorganiser le site et archiver le blog du Camino dans un onglet dédié. L’idée est de continuer à partager la suite de mes projets. J’ai envie de suivre pleinement la voie que Dieu m’indique, de vivre avec plus de respect pour ce qui m’entoure, et de donner du sens à ma vie.

Back on the trail this morning—for the very last time. Just a few minutes after leaving the hotel (yes, I’ve been staying in a cheap hotel for the past two nights, haha), the rain started. Luckily, it didn’t last long, and within two hours the weather had cleared up.

There are no more kilometer markers now—just stone milestones pointing toward Muxía or Fisterra. Whenever I see one for Fisterra, I know I’m headed in the opposite direction. Saying that there is some that indicates Muxía.

I passed a few pilgrims walking the other way.

I wasn’t able to get my certificate because the tourism office was closed. I’ll send them an email to request it. I had lunch in the town center and bought my bus ticket to return to Santiago tomorrow morning. It was cloudy and windy all afternoon, so I headed to the municipal albergue for a nap.

Around 7 p.m., I went out again. The sky had cleared up, and there was even some sunshine—just enough to enjoy this peaceful little town one last time.

De retour sur le chemin ce matin — pour la toute dernière fois. Il a commencé à pleuvoir quelques minutes après que j’ai quitté l’hôtel (oui, j’ai dormi dans un petit hôtel pas cher ces deux dernières nuits, haha). Heureusement, la pluie n’a pas duré longtemps, et moins de deux heures plus tard, le temps s’était calmé.

Il n’y a plus de bornes kilométriques maintenant — seulement des pierres indiquant la direction de Muxía ou de Fisterra. Chaque fois que je vois une borne pour Fisterra, je sais que je vais dans l’autre sens. Cela dit il y avait des bornes indiquant Muxía.

J’ai croisé quelques pèlerins qui marchaient dans l’autre direction.

Je n’ai pas pu récupérer mon certificat car l’office de tourisme était fermé. Je leur enverrai un e-mail pour le demander. J’ai déjeuné au centre-ville, puis j’ai acheté mon billet de bus pour rentrer à Santiago demain matin. Il faisait nuageux et venteux tout l’après-midi, alors je suis allé faire une sieste à l’auberge municipale.

Vers 19h, je suis ressorti. Le ciel s’était éclairci, il y avait même un peu de soleil — juste assez pour profiter une dernière fois de cette petite ville paisible.

I woke up early this morning and decided to head to the beach to catch the sunrise. Along the way, I also found some Saint James shells during my walk.

Once the bars opened, I stopped for breakfast. I forgot to take pictures, but with my stash of cat treats, I managed to attract a few furry friends—usually once I feed one, more show up!

Around 9 a.m., I went back to bed for a bit. When I woke up again around 11, it had started raining.

Later, I went to pick up my certificate for completing the Camino all the way to the « end of the ancient world. »

After lunch, I took a short walk to buy stamps and postcards, then headed back for another nap around 3 p.m. It was still raining at that point.

By 5 p.m., the rain had finally stopped, so I went out to get some groceries for tonight and tomorrow—just in case the walk to Muxía takes longer than expected. I also managed to do my laundry at the self-service machines.

Tomorrow is my last day of walking.

Je me suis réveillé tôt ce matin et j’ai décidé d’aller à la plage pour admirer le lever du soleil. En chemin, j’ai aussi trouvé quelques coquilles de Saint-Jacques pendant ma balade.

Dès que les bars ont ouvert, je me suis arrêté pour prendre un petit-déjeuner. J’ai oublié de prendre des photos, mais grâce à mes friandises pour chats, j’ai réussi à en attirer quelques-uns — souvent, dès que j’en nourris un, d’autres arrivent !

Vers 9h, je suis retourné me coucher un peu. Quand je me suis réveillé de nouveau vers 11h, il s’était mis à pleuvoir.

Plus tard, je suis allé chercher mon certificat de fin du Camino, qui atteste que j’ai marché jusqu’au “bout du monde ancien”.

Après le déjeuner, j’ai fait une petite promenade pour acheter des timbres et des cartes postales, puis je suis rentré faire une sieste vers 15h. Il pleuvait toujours à ce moment-là.

À 17h, la pluie s’était enfin arrêtée. Je suis donc sorti faire quelques courses pour ce soir et pour demain, au cas où la marche jusqu’à Muxía prendrait plus de temps que prévu. J’en ai aussi profité pour faire une lessive à la laverie automatique.

Demain, c’est mon dernier jour de marche.

Long walk today—but totally worth it. I left early as usual and was treated to a beautiful sunrise.

I had a great breakfast (see the photo below) at the first bar I found open along the way. In the picture, you can spot my new Saint James shell—with a little cat on it—attached to my backpack.

Arriving in Cee around 2 p.m., I was welcomed by a stunning view of the ocean and white sandy beaches. From there, it was about 15 km to the end—roughly a 3-hour walk—so I decided to push through and finish the stage today, planning to take a rest day tomorrow before heading to Muxía.

I reached the famous 0 km milestone at 5:30 p.m. I had hoped to stay at the lighthouse hotel, but it was fully booked. So I walked back into town to find a place to sleep. After a shower and a sandwich, I returned to the lighthouse to watch the sunset—an unforgettable moment.

I’m also sharing a Bible verse I received today (photo below). It really resonated with me.

Tomorrow, I’ll spend the day here in Fisterra—looking for my own Saint James shell, maybe dipping into the sea, and simply relaxing.

Longue marche aujourd’hui — mais ça en valait vraiment la peine. Je suis parti tôt comme d’habitude, et j’ai eu droit à un magnifique lever de soleil.

J’ai pris un super petit-déjeuner (voir photo ci-dessous) dans le premier bar ouvert sur mon chemin. Sur la photo, on peut voir ma nouvelle coquille de Saint-Jacques — avec un petit chat dessus — accrochée à mon sac à dos.

En arrivant à Cee vers 14h, j’ai découvert un paysage splendide : l’océan et des plages de sable blanc. Il me restait environ 15 km jusqu’à l’arrivée, soit environ trois heures de marche. J’ai donc décidé de continuer jusqu’au bout et de prendre un jour de repos demain avant de partir vers Muxía.

Je suis arrivé à la borne du kilomètre 0 à 17h30. J’espérais pouvoir dormir à l’hôtel du phare, mais il était complet. J’ai dû redescendre en ville pour trouver un logement. Après une bonne douche et un sandwich, je suis retourné au phare pour admirer le coucher du soleil — un moment inoubliable.

Je partage aussi avec vous le verset biblique que j’ai reçu aujourd’hui (voir photo). Il m’a particulièrement touché.

Demain, je passe la journée à Fisterra : je chercherai ma propre coquille de Saint-Jacques, j’irai peut-être me tremper un peu dans l’eau, et je me détendrai.

This morning, shortly after I left, I missed a turn and ended up climbing a street I didn’t need to. But it turned out to be a happy mistake—it gave me a great view for a photo of the cathedral. Once I got back on the right path, I was « lucky » enough to pass by the milestone pointing to Fisterra and Muxía.

In Negreira, I bought some cherry tomatoes and cookies for snacking, and I had a light breakfast at a bar. Which is to say… I didn’t eat much. So by the time I reached Santa Mariña around 4 p.m., I was starving and ended up having a full dinner! After that, and the long walk, I couldn’t resist a nap—totally necessary.

As for the Compostela: someone pointed out that I’ve covered 2,200 km in 66 days, averaging about 33.3 km per day. But here’s the catch—when you arrive at the pilgrim’s office, you fill out a form on a computer asking for your starting point and the Camino route you took in Spain. There’s no space to specify the French section you walked, so I couldn’t mention that I did the Via Turonensis instead of the Podiensis. That might explain the extra 300 km recorded. Still, judging by the state of my shoes, whether it was 2,200 km or slightly less, it sure feels right!

Tonight I met Jesús (from Spain) and Lucien (from Belgium). Both of them have walked the Camino over 20 times—and they still do one every year!

I’ve booked my bus back to France for next Monday. That gives me time to walk to Fisterra on Friday and Muxía on Saturday. On Sunday, I’ll catch a bus back to Santiago.

Ce matin, peu après mon départ, j’ai raté une intersection et j’ai grimpé une rue par erreur. Mais au final, c’était une bonne surprise : cela m’a permis de prendre une belle photo de la cathédrale. Une fois de retour sur le bon chemin, j’ai eu la « chance » de passer devant la borne indiquant Fisterra et Muxía.

À Negreira, j’ai acheté quelques tomates cerises et des biscuits pour grignoter, et j’ai pris un petit-déjeuner léger dans un bar. Autrement dit… je n’ai pas mangé grand-chose. Du coup, en arrivant à Santa Mariña vers 16h, j’avais super faim et j’ai pris un vrai dîner ! Après ça, et une longue journée de marche, j’ai dû faire une petite sieste — bien méritée.

À propos de la Compostela : quelqu’un m’a fait remarquer que j’ai parcouru 2 200 km en 66 jours, soit une moyenne de 33,3 km par jour. Mais en réalité, au bureau des pèlerins, on remplit un formulaire sur ordinateur où l’on indique le point de départ et le chemin suivi en Espagne. Il n’y a aucun endroit pour préciser la partie française, donc je n’ai pas pu mentionner que j’ai fait la Via Turonensis au lieu de la Podiensis. C’est peut-être pour ça qu’on m’a crédité d’environ 300 km de plus. Cela dit, vu l’état de mes chaussures, si ce n’est pas 2 200 km, ça doit en être très proche !

Ce soir, j’ai rencontré Jesús (d’Espagne) et Lucien (de Belgique). Ils ont chacun fait plus de 20 Caminos, et ils en font un chaque année !

J’ai réservé mon bus de retour en France pour lundi prochain. Normalement, j’ai le temps de faire Fisterra vendredi et Muxía samedi. Dimanche, je prends le bus pour revenir à Santiago.

I left the albergue around 6:20 this morning—earlier than ever! I must have been excited. The sky was clear, the weather perfect, with just a gentle breeze.

By late morning, I reached Santiago and received my Compostela, certifying the 2,200 km journey from Paris. It’s written in Latin or Spanish—either way, I can’t read it!

Next up, as tradition goes, I’ll head to Finisterra. In the Middle Ages, pilgrims went there believing it was the edge of the known world. They would burn their clothes to symbolically shed their old selves. I won’t go that far, but I’ll mark the moment by cutting my hair short. I also plan to watch the sunset at the lighthouse—a powerful symbol of endings and new beginnings.

It’s customary for pilgrims to find a Saint James shell there and wear it for the journey home. At Finisterra, I’ll also receive a new Compostela for this final extension of the Camino.

Tonight, I’ll attend a pilgrim’s mass at the cathedral—a special way to close this chapter.

Je suis parti de l’albergue vers 6h20 ce matin — plus tôt que d’habitude ! Je devais être vraiment excité. Le ciel était clair, le temps parfait avec une légère brise.

Avant midi, j’ai atteint Santiago et j’ai reçu ma Compostela, certifiant les 2200 km parcourus depuis Paris. Elle est écrite en latin ou en espagnol, de toute façon, je ne peux pas la lire !

Prochaine étape, comme le veut la tradition, je vais me rendre à Finisterre. Au Moyen Âge, les pèlerins y allaient en pensant que c’était la fin du monde connu. Ils y brûlaient leurs vêtements pour se débarrasser symboliquement de leur ancien soi. Je ne ferai pas ça, mais je marquerai le moment en me coupant les cheveux. Je prévois aussi de regarder le coucher du soleil au phare — un symbole puissant de la fin et du renouveau.

Il est de coutume pour les pèlerins d’y trouver une coquille Saint-Jacques et de la porter sur le chemin du retour. À Finisterre, je recevrai également une nouvelle Compostela pour cette extension finale du Camino.

Ce soir, j’assisterai à une messe des pèlerins à la cathédrale — une manière spéciale de clore ce chapitre.

Lovely walk today! It was cloudy but dry, and the afternoon sun was perfect for drying laundry.

I met a few more cats along the way (see video below), and I treated myself to a St. James shell with a picture of a cat inside. I’ll show it tomorrow once I’ve attached it to my backpack.

The final milestone shows only 22 km left to Santiago—almost there!

Tonight, I’m staying in a municipal albergue again—my third or fourth night in a row. Before the bar closed, I placed an order for a 6 p.m. pickup. Lasagna for dinner tonight!

Belle marche aujourd’hui ! Il a fait nuageux mais sans pluie, et le soleil de l’après-midi était parfait pour faire sécher le linge.

J’ai encore croisé quelques chats (voir la vidéo ci-dessous), et je me suis offert une coquille de Saint-Jacques avec une image de chat à l’intérieur. Je la montrerai demain une fois attachée à mon sac.

Le dernier panneau du Camino indique qu’il ne reste plus que 22 km jusqu’à Saint-Jacques—presque arrivé !

Ce soir, je dors à nouveau dans une auberge municipale—la troisième ou quatrième nuit d’affilée. Avant que le bar ne ferme, j’ai commandé mon repas pour 18h. Ce sera lasagnes ce soir !

I left this morning wearing my poncho, but ended up taking it off since the rain came only later in the afternoon.

After going four days without smoking, my emotions got the better of me yesterday. I asked a fellow pilgrim for a cigarette—and she gave me three! Today, I bought a pack again, though I’m still trying to quit. By the way, cigarettes are cheap in Spain: only €6.15 for a pack of 20 Marlboros, compared to €13 in France.

I walked a lot today to reduce the distance I’ll have to cover on Tuesday when I arrive in Santiago. I passed the last milestone showing less than 62 km to go. I’m planning a long walk tomorrow so I’ll only have around 25 km left on Tuesday.

I walked alone until Portomarín, after which I encountered a crowd of pilgrims—must have passed over a hundred!

When I arrived at the municipal albergue in Casanova around 4 PM, they told me the bar was closed for Sunday. Interestingly, I was the first to check in, which is pretty rare at that time. I had a chocolate croissant, some rice cakes, bread, and aioli left, so I made do with that. Later, more pilgrims arrived and the host decided to open the bar for us—steak and fries for dinner! I was still hungry despite eating all my rice cakes with aioli, so it was perfect!

Je suis parti ce matin avec mon poncho, mais je l’ai finalement enlevé puisque la pluie n’est venue que dans l’aprés midi.

Après quatre jours sans fumer, mes émotions ont pris le dessus hier. J’ai demandé une cigarette à une pèlerine, et elle m’en a donné trois ! Aujourd’hui, j’ai racheté un paquet, même si j’essaie toujours d’arrêter. Au passage, les cigarettes sont peu chères en Espagne : seulement 6,15 € pour un paquet de 20 Marlboro, contre 13 € en France.

J’ai beaucoup marché aujourd’hui pour réduire la distance qu’il me restera à faire mardi, le jour de mon arrivée à Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle. J’ai dépassé la dernière borne qui indique moins de 62 km restants. Je prévois une grosse journée demain, pour qu’il ne me reste qu’environ 25 km mardi.

J’ai marché seul jusqu’à Portomarín, puis il y avait beaucoup de pèlerins sur le chemin — j’en ai croisé facilement une centaine !

À mon arrivée à l’auberge municipale de Casanova vers 16h, on m’a dit que le bar était fermé car c’était dimanche. J’étais le premier à m’enregistrer, ce qui est assez rare à cette heure-là. Il me restait un pain au chocolat, des galettes de riz, du pain et un peu d’aïoli, alors j’ai grignoté ça. Plus tard, d’autres pèlerins sont arrivés, et l’hôte a finalement ouvert le bar pour nous — steak-frites au menu ce soir ! J’avais encore faim malgré les galettes de riz et l’aïoli, donc c’était parfait !

After leaving Triacastela, I had two path options. I chose the shorter one, though it had more elevation gain.

I passed through the town of Sarria, which is a starting point for many pilgrims. It’s the nearest large town more than 100 km from Santiago, and since you need to walk at least 100 km to receive the Compostela, it’s a popular place to begin.

Today was overcast, and we had a bit of rain.

I met a new cat—he looked like a Siamese—and continued to meet new pilgrims. The usual conversation starters are, “Where are you from?” and “Where did you start your walk?”

I forgot to mention that yesterday I met a guy named Patrice who started his journey from Le Puy, in France. I told him it was funny because a few days ago in Hospital de Órbigo, I met two other French pilgrims who also started in Le Puy. When I mentioned their names—Rémy and Colombe—he said, “Yes, I know them! I walked with them.” The Camino really is a small world.

Just 700 meters from the albergue where I’m staying, there’s a marker showing 100 km to Santiago. I’ll take a picture of it tomorrow morning.

En sortant de Triacastela, j’avais deux itinéraires possibles. J’ai choisi le plus court, même s’il avait plus de dénivelé.

Je suis passé par la ville de Sarria, un point de départ courant pour de nombreux pèlerins. C’est la grande ville la plus proche à plus de 100 km de Santiago, et comme il faut marcher au moins 100 km pour obtenir la Compostela, beaucoup choisissent de commencer là.

La journée a été nuageuse, avec un peu de pluie.

J’ai rencontré un nouveau chat — il ressemblait à un siamois — et je continue à croiser de nouveaux pèlerins. Les questions habituelles sont : « Tu viens d’où ? » et « Tu as commencé où ? »

J’ai oublié de dire qu’hier, j’ai rencontré un gars, Patrice, qui a commencé à marcher depuis Le Puy, en France. Je lui ai dit que c’était drôle, car il y a quelques jours à Hospital de Órbigo, j’ai rencontré deux autres Français qui avaient aussi commencé au Puy. Quand j’ai mentionné leurs prénoms — Rémy et Colombe — il m’a répondu : « Oui, je les connais ! J’ai marché avec eux. » Le Camino, c’est vraiment un petit monde.

À seulement 700 mètres de l’auberge où je dors ce soir, il y a une marque qui indique qu’il ne reste que 100 km jusqu’à Santiago. Je prendrai une photo demain matin.

I started walking around 6:30 this morning—it was still really dark. I wanted to get an early start, knowing it’s better to tackle the tougher parts before it gets too warm.

It stayed cloudy for most of the walk, and I got a bit of light rain before arriving at my stop.

The climb made me break a sweat, but I was glad to reach the pass and start heading downhill!

Today I entered Galicia—the signs are a bit different here, which feels like a new chapter of the journey.

On the descent, I kept passing three cyclists. It took me a moment to realize they were having some trouble. Eventually, I asked if they needed help, and it turned out that one of their bike bags kept falling off for no reason. I offered them a piece of rope to secure it. They were grateful, tied it back on, and I didn’t see them again after that—hopefully, they made it smoothly!

I try to pet every cat I see along the way, though many are a bit shy. But today I met one that was totally relaxed—he climbed onto my lap, then my shoulder, and even tried to crawl into my jacket through the collar!

Dinner was especially pleasant, with a dining area surrounded by glass windows—perfect for relaxing and enjoying the view.

J’ai commencé à marcher ce matin vers 6h30 — il faisait encore bien noir. Je voulais partir tôt, sachant qu’il vaut mieux faire l’effort avant qu’il ne fasse trop chaud.

Le ciel est resté couvert pendant la majeure partie de la marche, et j’ai eu un peu de pluie avant d’arriver.

J’ai bien transpiré pendant la montée, mais j’étais content d’atteindre le col et de commencer la descente !

Aujourd’hui, je suis entré en Galice — les panneaux sont un peu différents ici, ce qui donne l’impression d’un nouveau chapitre dans le voyage.

En descendant, j’ai croisé plusieurs fois trois cyclistes. J’ai mis un moment à comprendre qu’ils avaient un souci. Finalement, je leur ai demandé s’ils avaient besoin d’aide : l’un de leurs sacs se détachait sans raison. Je leur ai proposé un morceau de corde pour l’attacher. Ils étaient contents, l’ont fixé et je ne les ai plus revus — j’espère qu’ils sont bien arrivés !

J’essaie toujours de caresser les chats que je croise, même si beaucoup sont craintifs. Mais aujourd’hui, j’en ai rencontré un très à l’aise — il est monté sur mes genoux, puis sur mon épaule, et a même essayé d’entrer dans ma veste par l’encolure !

Le dîner était particulièrement agréable, avec une salle entourée de baies vitrées — parfait pour se détendre et profiter de la vue.
